Hello,
i am looking for a motorcycle transport from Buenos Aires or Citys around to Germany. Does anybody have some experience? I already contacted a shipping line who offers me a complete container for 3000 Dollars...... Thank you for tips and ideas in advance. Ingo Panamericana 2009/2010

I flew my bike to Germany with DHL in February this year, that wasn't more expensive than shipping it by boat and it was a LOT easier and quicker. I picked it up at the airport in Germany the same day I arrived in the evening, it was a very straightforward process. It cost me 1018 Euros or something like that. Crates are not needed, you just drive it to the airport, they prepare it for you (i.e. put it on a wooden pallet and some foil around it). Customs was also much better than in the harbour. The Lufthansa/DHL people at the airport are very helpful and speak good English. You have to pay cash in advance or by card at the destination. They quoted a higher price for payment at arrival (there is a surcharge), but it ended up being cheaper to pay in Germany (maybe 100 Euros), no idea why. I strongly recommend it. I'll look for the contact address and send it to you. Btw, I suppose you want to get the bike to Cologne, I also sent it there (I'm from Cologne as well). Good luck Peer |

Hi Ingo,
i have already stored my bike since March 07 in Azul, about 300 km south of Buenos Aires. Where the great "La Posta del Viajero en Moto" is at home. my plan is to go back in December or January and send the bike back to Germany aswell. When i shipped it to Buenos Aires i did this with Schenker. it costs me round about 700,- €. A friend a my who has shipped his bike many times to SA and back used mostly Hamburg Sued. I will cost about 1000,-€. You ride only our bike in the port with all your luggage on, no problem. They help you to make the paperwork, thats it. in Hamburg you have to go to the office of Hambug Süd, then you can ride home. very easy. you can contact: Federico Boettner federico.boettner@ar.hamburgsud.com he speaks also good german Michael |
