Time Limit for Iran Visa

I am leaving the UK in June 2006 and taking approximately five months to reach Iran (hoping to enter the country at the border with Turkmenistan). It seems that the Iranian visa is only valid for 3 months from date of issue. Is this true? Does anyone have any experience of this and what to do about it?

Many thanks.

Tom.

Our visas was valid for 30 days, they say it's maximum for tourist, but you can extend it there on the place for one to few additional weeks on the place explaining with any reason why you'd need it.

Cheers, Margus

Thanks for your response. My problem is not the length that the visa is issued for (30 days would be fine) but how far ahead the visa can be issued. To be able to apply for the visa from the Iranian embassy in the UK I would need to apply for the visa five months before I need to use it. It is with this that I think there is problem.
Cheers,
Tom

Hello Tom,

maybe the solution is to get the VISA on the way then? Check if there is any iranian embassies on your route and contact them before the trip to see if it's "doable" via them or not.

Happy travels, Margus

I had stantours.com take care of my Iran visa. I did everything by e-mail and paypal from Argentina quite a while before I got there. David at stantours had APPROVAL for the visa and an approval number. I just went to an Iranian embassy and gave them the number and date it was issued and they gave me the visa on the spot. I then had 30 days to enter Iran.

Tom you are right. The visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue and gives you 30 days when you enter. I didnt apply for my Iranian visa until I was in the time frame I wanted. But, it is much faster and easier to get an Iranian visa if you have already been issued with one. So while you will have to apply for another in whatever country you are in around Iran it shouldnt take long to issue, as you have already been through the various checks they do.
cheers
