Sending important documents to foreign british embassies

well waiting for the dvla to return my v5 with an updated engine number is looking like its gonna see me leaving before my carnet would be granted and returned to me, ideally i'd like to have it forwarded to Almaty, as i won't need it until i depart for japan from Russia. Anyone got stories to tell of them having important documents sent to foreign British embassies?

I had my V5 sent to Tashkent for similar reasons . I didnt tell the embassy but had it addressed to the embassy and then to me. got to the embassy 5 weeks after the letter was sent and they said they havent got any letters for me. I dont know if it was lost in the post or ...

I think its a good idea to let them know before you send anything

Send it by DHL.. Recorded !!

As much as I don't like recommending them due to their prices, they got the job done for me !

RAC carnet department have suggested that foreign embassies aren't greatly receptive of receiving your mail, so what they will do is send it via DHL recorded and the DHL depot will just hold onto it until you arrive. Sounds like a decent plan for anyone looking to mail important possessions to themselves for a later date.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
