Hi,

I want to buy a US registered bike from Dutch people in Colombia. Do you know how to transfer the ownership?

Cheers

No specifics about Colombia but.....

You might want to review the following threads, each has information that should be considered before purchasing a foreign registered bike in South America.

Some questions that need to be addressed:

Will you be able to buy insurance for the bike while title is "in transfer"? If you are able to buy insurance will it be valid once the fact that title was transferred in Colombia is discovered during post accident investigation.... You should research all laws pertaining to sale of foreign registered vehicles in Colombia. You will find many.

Will you be able to exit, if you want to, Colombia when the bike was admitted in the name of owner on title? What will you do when the temporary import permit expires, not sure about Colombia but max time in country for a foreign registered bike is 8 months in Argentina.

Here are the threads: All in: South and Central America and Mexico Region....

There are other threads regarding your question. If and when you continue your investigation into the possibility of legally buying a foreign registered motocycle in Colombia please share your research here. Many who post here have looked into your specific question, I know little or nothing about regulations in Colombia.

Thanks for bringing up a very interesting topic.... I am a community member of he Buenos Aires HUBB Community and will be pleased to help with advice at no cost.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
