How to get a bike back to Australia without being in the country...

I dont know. I'm asking

I want to fly my AUD2000$ bike and compete in a race in a Carnet country. Then carry on travelling without the bike.

Is there anyway I can get the bike back to where it came from(Australia)
if Im not in the county?

I dont want to have to fly all the way home just to pick up a package.

Has anyone been in this situation before?

Thanks Shane

I have (although in the end I was in the country). Bottom line bike is just cargo that has to be delivered to a person and address - it doesnt need to be the owner. So just find a friend that you can have it shipped to or who will pick it up from the warehouse and give those details to the shipping agent who is doing the customs clearance in Australia.

Martin!? Remember me? haha

Thanks mate, I guess all Im worried about is the Carnet complications. I thought I read somewhere on my last one that the person on the carnet needs to be the one clearing it in the country.

But I guess the shipping agent should have come across that problem before if they are worth their salt.

Thanks

I dont really want to set fire to it in India

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
