Carnets - I know there's no such thing as a stupid question but....
I'm in the middle of planning for our UK - Oz trip but am having some issues on the whole carnet thing.
Our trip obviously requires us to pass through some countries (we're going via Iran, Pakistan & India) for which Carnets are a requirement, but I'm struggling with the non-compulsory countries, for example Jordan & Syria. I keep reading that you can buy a temporary carnet for these 2 countries at the border (quoted costs seem to vary) but have also seen people saying that they've used their carnets to enter the country. What is the best (cheapest) way to do this? Get my visa in the UK or at the border? And can i just include these countries on my trip carnet? Apologies in advance......

Just get a 25 page carnet from the RAC. Its the same price as a 5,10 page carnet etc.
Non compulsory countries will either allow you to buy a temp import permit at the border or use your carnet instead. Use your carnet as it'll be cheaper (as you've already bought it) rather than paying for another permit.
