DR650 in Aus?

Hi there,

am planning for a round-the-Oz trip in Jan-March 2011 so quite soon. Also planning to do it on a DR650 - any golden thoughts on the bike and prep that might be useful?

Anyone else going to be in Aus at that time?
Best
Kuba

Cheers!

Gday all,
Just wanna say a big thanks to everyone who has responded and helped me get this far for my trip preparation! It comes down to the next 2 weeks, as I fly out of Brisbane (to Santiago) on the 3rd February to begin my RTW trip. Best of luck to you all on your own adventures!
Ride safe!
Rossy.

Rossy ,
Good luck to you and enjoy the journey.
Us two Brits well be in the south of USA around the beginning of may so keep posting and maybe meet up for a .
Food for thought , we have a 20' container going to Vladivostok from Seattle in June . We have two BMW GS's so plenty of room ( be around 1000 usd plus port fees etc) . It would mean you would have to get a multi entry visa to Russia but then you could ride to Europe and Africa.
Our route would take us Russia Mongolia through the Stan's into azerbaijan Georgia Turkey Bulgaria Romania Serbia Croatia Slovenia Italy France and home .

Have fun chug

Thanks for the wishes mate! I'll keep you posted. Be great to catch up with fellow HUBBers/riders!

As for the container and offer...wow, sounds unreal! I'll have to let you know after a month or 2 in SA first though to see how it all goes. Haven't organised a Russian visa either and my plans were to cross from the East coast of states to europe first as I would be returning to Aus across Asia.

I'll keep you posted. Best of luck to you both as well! Cheers,
Rossy.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
