Cheap Used Bike in San Diego?
I'm thinking of taking a month off from work in January/February, going south to San Diego by bus/train/plane, and buying a cheap used motorcycle, then riding the length of the Baja and back to SD.
I found this place on the internet: http://www.deerhorncycles.com/ It looks like I could buy myself a cheap used motorcycle for about $1000-$1500 US. - Has anyone had any experience with this company? - Any other place that someone could recommend in San Diego for a cheap used bike? - As a Canadian, would I have any problems taking a used US bike with California plates across the border? ------------------ Bruce Clarke brclarke@islandnet.com www.islandnet.com/~brclarke

Thanks for the response.
I think the best idea would be to work with a dealership. I could probably get a better deal with a private seller but that would take more running around to get the paperwork down. I'm not sure how registration and insurance would work as I don't have a permanent address in the US, but I bet most dealerships would be able to take care of those details. I'd like to just arrive, sign some papers, pay for the bike and get riding. I have e-mailed the Deerhorn cycle guys and they seem willing to arrange both a buy-back and paperwork.
