Stranded Traveler in Ukraine - Any Ideas Please ?

Guys - a shout for help from the collective wisdom ?

A mate from UK traveling overland in a land rover 110 has had an accident in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

He's doing this for charity: Welcome To Cornwall 2 Capehorn: Cornwall2capehorn

He's fine but his land rover is not in any state to be driven and the local land rover dealer cannot fix the problem...

In sorting things out a local lawyer and contact of mine have been able to make the "officials and paperwork" problems go away but Benjy has to get himself and a Land Rover 110 get out of the country reasonably quickly...

He's seeing if his RAC cover helps but isn't getting too far with the call centres...

I'm hitting Google and the phones hard as I type, but does anyone have any contacts or names in Ukraine in particular (or rest of Europe who might have contacts in their network) involved in vehicle / automotive transportation please ?

He ideally needs to get the Rover back to UK. But doing it in stages is another option by first getting it overland to Poland. He's been quoted $1,000 to get it to the Polish border - but from there ??

The other option is, if he can get it to the coast, by sea from Odessa...

Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions or contacts in the vehicle / freight forwarding sector please ?

I have already asked James Cargo for any contacts they have...

Thanks in advance

Simon

Is he still stuck in Kharkiv?
I have an office in Kiev with English speaking staff. I'm not there until July 28th but I'm sure we can get something organised if necessary.
Email me for phone numbers or try skype derekm_mwp

Guys

Thanks for the suggestions - particularly Jake...

We managed to get him first of all to the Polish border. And then from there we managed to get him home in various stages...

Thanks again...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
