Question Saudi Arabia - Right hand steering wheel implications (transit visa)

Hi

Currently on overland trip from Cape town to London
We would like to avoid Egypt (paper hassle) and go through Saudi Arabia.

As we've heard:
- transit visa possible (72 hours)
- arrange in khartoum
- Car paperwork / pasport / photo / some money
- onwards visa (Jordan)

BUT
Rumors go that they don't allow "Right hand steering wheel" vehicles to drive on their roads.

Any recent successtories of other travelers, and how did you manage?
Latest successtory I've heard was february 2010.
Is it a lottery?

Much appreciated!!
(we're currently in Nairobi)

RHD Pajero

It might be not so helpful. Than I bought my RHD Paj, they gave advise to drive 72 hours (NO more). Perhaps it the same now. So, just temporary permission.
Have a nice trip.

I spoke with some people on the road recently and it is indeed a problem - RHD not allowed - also in Oman.
the guys I spoke with had to abort thier route due to the problems they had on the border.
