Timor Adventures

Hi all,

Just got back a few days ago from the 8-day tour of Timor Leste ( East Timor ) with Timor Adventures.

Brilliant.

Our tour guide was David who together with the support driver, Edu, provided an adventure to remember. We rode Honda Mega Pro bikes; 150 cc of pure brute horsepower. Well perhaps not that much power, but plenty for the conditions.

David's knowledge and enthusiasm really showed. A highlight of the tour was David's impromptu roadside concerts with his harmonica. Another was the amazing stories of Timor history from Portuguese colonial days through to World War Two, the Indonesian occupation and more recent events.

Some of the roads were dreadful, but they were great fun. Some of the roads were OK too, and they also were great fun.

Thoroughly recommend this trip for all serious riders. It was my first OS ride but my two fellow riders were quite experienced in riding OS and still loved it.

Hi Shane,

Great to hear from you. No, we didn't make it there, but it was still an excellent tour and when time and circumstances permit, I will be back for one of David's longer tours for sure.

Will you be coming to this year's event? We have shifted to Beaudesert to cater for larger numbers and so on.

On facebook, I think if you search by my email address shane@landau.com.au it will find me. Whilst I do have an unusual name, there is at least one other on facebook with the same name. You'll know you have found me if you see the blue Suzuki. I'll send you a link to the HU events then.

Regards,

Shane

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
