V-Strom? any good?
anyone tried out the V-Strom long distance yet? looks nice but i dont know bout the rock guard and ground clearance. does it get good gas mileage? handle dirt? carry lots?

I do have a V Strom and I love it. It handles asphalt great, very comfortable ride, upright riding position. It also does pretty good on dirt and unimproved roads. Swap the stock tires for something a little more agressive for better off road handling.
It's no dirt bike that's for sure, but... comparing it to a GS, it'll get the job done. 45-55 mpg, 220-250 miles per tank. good luck.
