car insurance in South Africa

We are currently in South Africa and are looking into a third-party insurance for our Land Rover. We were told this is not possible as it is a foreign registered car and left-hand drive. Does anybody have any experience with this? Or has an address of insurance companies who do insure foreign registered cars in South Africa?
Your help would be appreciated!

Hi

try getting a copy of Getaway magazine, in the back there is an insurance section - I used this to get insured a few years ago. I think the company was called "Tuff Stuff" or something similiar.

Good luck, enjoy your travels and push the boundaries.

Thx Chris!
We will get a copy of the Getaway magazine and see if we can find the insurance company you mentioned.

Another name from memory was Madison Insurance, they could be linked to Tuff Stuff.
Maybe try the AA

Good Luck

Land Rover South Africa offer their own insurance scheme. It might be worth giving them a call.

I have a Zimbabwean registered Nissan Sani and will be receiving a UK registered Toyota 4Runner and have been refusd SA insurance on both vehicles. I have been told by more than one insurance agent that you cannot insure your vehicle unless it is registered in SA.
Go well,
