Africa Overland Insurance

Hi,

Can anyone recommend or suggest a source for bike insurance for an overland bike trip through africa (west coast)?

Is it nessesary or usual to get this sort of insurance? I'll be getting personal travel insurance anyway.

Well personal travel insurance is a must for any one half sensible

Insurance for the bike is hard to comeby and very expensive - try a search of the site/forums.

I couldn't find anyone that would cover me for my entire trans-africa trip earlier in the year (East coast). I tried two UK-based insurers mentioned in old threads on here but they no longer offered it.

Other than 3rd party insurance at some borders in South Africa I have a policy with Outsurance who also cover some neighbouring countries.

So if you do find anyone that will cover you please let us know
