Tehran - place to stay for 3 or 4 days when visa collecting?

Hello - anyone got any recommendations for somewhere to stay for 3-4 days when off visa collecting.

Whilst there we have to go to the Kazakh, British, Pakistani and Azerbaijaini embassies, and have to drive into town. we have driven in once and know what we are letting ourselves in for. Ideally somewhere cheap, cool and near a metro, but we are guessing we won't find the ideal place, so any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Hotel Khayyam in Tehran

Hi,

I tried a month ago the Hotel Khayyam (3 Navidy Alley), in a little alley you can reach from Amir Kabir, close to thse bazar (there is a sign on the right side of the road). It is not nice but its cleaness is acceptable and, most important, it has a big closed parking. I paid like 15 dollars for one night, including a untastefull breakfast.

Maybe not the best place, but I needed a parking.

Cheers,

A.

We also stayed at the Hotel Khayyam and actually liked the place. The hotel manager was very nice (took us out for supper!) as were all the staff and the place was clean. Good secure parking. Basically, you could do a lot worse in Tehran. Good luck.

Non-hotel options

Other options would be to contact the local HU community via http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/com...tEnglish.shtml or something more generic like http://www.couchsurfing.org

Good luck!

Another for Hotel Khyyam

We also stayed there and the guys couldn't be more helpful and there is somewhere secure to park your car/bike. Takes only about ten or fifteen minutes to walk to the metro stop (walk down the alleyway opposite the hotel entrance, turn right and it is next to the big Iranian Intelligence building ) and the breakfast can't have been that bad for us as I think we ate it every day, just some dry flat bread, with carrot marmalade (not to be sniffed at actually started to look out for it after eating it!) and an Iranian thing called Hava which was a bit odd and then some tea and a milkshake of some sort

Didnt end up there ..

So we set out to stay at Khayyam hotel, but just as we arrived we bumped into a German friend als in a Landie, who said he was staying at the next door hotel for half the price! Khayyam was $50 a night, whereas we have a room for $26 a night at Firouzeh, although wifi is an extra $2 a day. No secure parking but we are parked right in front of the hotel, which is a lot safer than our usual parking spots (we're a bit lax).

Oh, a shared shower too ...

Thanks for the help, as it was your help that led me here.

Cheers (well with a non alcoholic malt )
