Quality Tyre Availability India?

Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to get qulaity tyres in India? I am looking for a place in Mumbai or a company in India somewhere. I will be fitting an XT 600 for roads in India and for ride home to UK.
Maybe you would advise I shipped tyres to India with me. If anyone is in the know please let me know.

Thanks

AC

I couldnt get tyres for my KTM in India at all, they are a sllightly awkward size, but Mumbai is definitely the place with bikes and i saw a couple of XTs there so would assume you can get tyres for them in the city, however you wont have a lot of choice as regards make of tyre... there is also a good mechanic in Goa i met, he had an XT and i am sure would help you find tyres, i posted his details in the Repairs Shops section last Jan/Feb time.

In respect of having stuff sent to you while in India, be aware that the customs will open everything and charge you around 100% of its value in import duty before they will release it to you. I made this mistake with some service parts i needed and it turned into a very expensive exercise, they also nicked a couple of things that obviously looked useful to them!!

Hope this helps...

Hello
In Arambol, Goa, 2 metzeler tyres sahara 3 in good condition are available, rear size 140-80/18.
Ask for VJ, a good and friendly Indian mecanician, mainly for local bikes
But last year he repaired big Hondas, ktm and he just did my bmw
Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
