Papua new guinea, Bali, Indonesia, Philipins, signapore

Hello All,

We need some help with our trip planning!
We travelled through Africa the past 2 years and are now travelling through Australia and planning on leaving Australia next year, but how and where to?

We would love to visit papue new guinea, bali, the philipins, indonesia and signapore.
Anyone who visited those island in a trip?
Any info about how to move between those island?

We're planning on ending in Signapore as we are planning on taking a train there that will connects us with the seberian express, and so slowly make our way back home (Belgium) .

We were thinking to leave Australia in Cairns and visit papua new guinea, those 2 places are close to eachother, but apparently it's only possible to fly in?
Where to can you fly from papua new guinea?

Any info about getting visa's, possible at the borders, difficult to get, impossible to get?

Any info, previous trips, blogs,... welcome!!

PNG has a few quirks. One is that there is no road connection between Pt Moresby and the rest of PNG.
The main road system from the NE coast up through the highlands is well served by a network of adhoc transportation conveyancers called PMVs. They come in three classes. Very uncomfortable, excruciatingly uncomfortable and life threatening. All the same price, and it just depends on how crowded it is as to which class you travel in.



If you are talking about doing it on a motorbike then you will need to be highly experienced at avoiding potholes, mud, pigs, kids and people. Likely result of hitting any of the last three is death.
Speaking of mud, this was in the dry season. --



If you can figure a way to install something like this on your bike



It might deflect a few of the rocks and machette swipes that tend to do a fair bit of damage to bones and tendons



Apart from that, its an interesting place. I enjoy it.
Mostly.

And when they are not hacking each other up over payback issues, they are very friendly




Oh and be very careful in Port Moresby and Mt Hagin. In either place, if you have a truck with goods on the back, you need one person on each corner to reduce the speed at which the whole load gets stolen. My first night in Mt hagin a gang of raskals attacked the motel my daughter and I were staying at and shot and slashed the place up pretty badly

Entry visa is available at the airport when you fly in to Jacksons at Port Moresby - for Australians anyway. Cost 100 kina. 60 days single entry and you MUST have an outwards ticket.

Hi! I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia. I love to visit Bali (like everyone does)! If you wanted to visit Bali, you should go to Seminyak and Uluwatu area(there are lots of cool places there)

And if you want to try some water sports, you can go to
Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua. I tried parasailing once. it was great!

And you should try Nuri's Ribs (BEST PORK RIBS in Bali!), and there's one small place called Eatwell near the beach, that has good food with very affordable price

there are lot of beautiful and affordable villa in bali that sometimes will cost less than a hotel (depends on how many people in your group). I stayed at Astana Kunti Villa. it such a nice place to stay! (for my experience). or if you want some suggestion for the villa, check @balivilla on Instagram

If you have more time, you should visit Nusa Ceningan, it's on Lembongan, small island near Bali, it is absolutely heaven! quiet place with beautiful beach! stay at Le Pirate Beach Club. i think it will only cost you around $40/night. but definitely worth the experience(and absolutely the view!)
And my tips for you, it's better to rent a car then take a taxi because some of the taxi drivers may fool you and will cost you a lot.

If you want to visit Jakarta, around 1-2hours flight from Bali. You can go to some Museum in Central Jakarta. For some Culinary experience, try this places:
at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town
-Social House
-Skye (you can see Jakarta's view from 56th floor rooftop)!
-Publik Markette

But if I may warn you, traffic in Jakarta could be very crazyy,like really crazy! it will make you stressed out.

Tony Lee, it looks like I first should've asked 'can you travel to Papua new guinea' , looks like you don't recommend it, thanks for that!

We're not silly travellers, we just travelled two years through Africa and yes we should've looked up before asking, but in our enthousiasme during planning for the rest of our trip we didn't and just posted this topic.
Won't do it again
