Smile Iran visa for second timers

Hi there,

good news from some Iran embassies - do not know whether the following is common knowledge, but since good news do not hurt:

If you already have an Iran visa in your passport, the Iran embassies in Islamabad (and also in Istanbul, according to an swiss couple) will issue a new visa without consulting Teheran and without requiring a Letter of Non Objection from your embassy (at least in my case, I am German citizen. That also means that it is no problem for us German second timers that the German embassy in Islamabad does NOT issue any LNO - which I have in writing in exchange for 20 Euro). It does not matter whether or not you have been in Iran yet with the first visa (I was not).

The good thing is: They will issue the new visa within one day!

Even better: If you tell the staff (not the guy at the gate) that you intend to travel the Karakorum Highway first, you might even get a 60 day-visa like I did (without even asking. The reason was "to save me the inconvenience of turning up at the embassy again", since the time is running from the day of issue and I would have been forced to re-apply after my return from KKH in case I would only get 30 days).

To note that this does NOT work at the Delhi embassy of Iran (I expressively asked and they still want the LNO (which the German embassy in Delhi DOES issue) and they still send the stuff to Teheran. They claim it will take between 3-4 weeks to process a tourist visa, but after 6 weeks in my case still said that they did not get an answer from Teheran).

Very happy

Lars

Thumbs up

That's very good news Lars!

Avoids a lot of hassle and wouldn't mind having a 60 day visa!
