Can I get an NOC in Quetta?

Does anyone know what the best way to get an NOC to cross Baluchistan? I've read that it can be done in Quetta but also read that people have been told to go back to Islamabad to get it!

Has anyone done it recently? How did it go?

There are three of us, Dutch, Aussie, NZ. We're in Islamabad now but heading to Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta, Taftan. Will we need an NOC for any other area?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark, I did the Istanbul-Kathmandu route last year, and this year many of my friends from Turkey did the route, so I have fresh information.

First of all you can get the NOC in Quetta, it's easy, you will probably stay in Bloom Star Hotel and the frontdesk will make the telephone call for you, you will spend some hours at the goverment office and then it's done.

Be careful about the dates, if you arrive Quetta on Friday you have to wait until Monday to arrange the NOC. For example you arrived to Quetta on wednesday at 2pm, you can go to the office on thursday and leave Quetta on friday.

Understanding the NOC: You don't need NOC while riding from Sukkur or from Taftan to Quetta, you only need it to go out of Quetta.

All the best
Caglar

Excellent thanks. In Lahore now so we'll be making our way there shortly. We met some local riders in Islamabad and one turned out to be a security analyst guru who called ahead for us and said we can get it in Quetta in 2hrs!! Not holding my breath but we'll see.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
