Anyone got an Iran visa recently?

Hi,
I've heard that due to the present situation with Iran they aren't granting visas to any Brits.
Is this true?
A friends sister who lives in Tehran has allowed us to use her for an invite, will this help?

I have just left Iran, 5 days ago. Whýlst I go the výsa ages ago I had no problems extendýng ýt a lot! I broke down ýn Kerman and ýt took a month gettýng the býke out and back to repaýr. In Iran there are no problems, there may be a problem gettýng one from outsýde - get what you can, but NOT a transýt výsa, and extend when you are there.

There may be problems now though as when I left there were a load of antý-western demos, partýcularly ýn Tehran, and the posturýng ýn Iran ýs as bad the other way as ýt seems to be ýn London.

If you do get one ýt ýs an amazýng place! But two býts of advýce. Take double the money you thýnk you may need as ýt gýves you a good fall back. And dependýng on the býke take plenty of spares. I have a KTM whých self destructed but spares were lýterally ýmpossýble to get. I had loads of servýce ýtems and býts and pýeces but the part I needed I dýdnt have and ýt gets dýffýcult then!

Have fun!

We could get one in Bangkok, Malaysia, India or Pakistan.
By the sound of it Malaysia or Pakistan being muslim countries may be our best bet, what dya think?

Malaysýa could be a good shout as would Pakýstan. I guess ýf you are comýng East to West they are the two. If they faýl you could try an agency ýn Iran, they can help.

I thýnk ýt wýll become much clearer ýn 4-6 weeks when the current polýtýcal storm begýns to eýther clear or get worse. We have to waýt as well, havýng got the býke out - utter hell - we have to decýde ýf we are goýng to rýde back across...

Hi,

I strongly advice you to arrange the Iran visa upfront over the internet. Try www.key2persia.com for example, but there are more. I have met people from the UK that had to wait at least 10 days in Pakistan. One Brit had arranged it upfront over the net and got the visa at the spot in Islamabad.

Hope this helps

Martijn

Cheers Martin,
I'll get on to them straight away. I was going to use a similar country i'd contacted before we left, but they haven't replied to a couple of emails.

We're not brits, but for us it was extremely easy to get 30 day visa!

I'm sure contacts in Iran come in handy, we had them also, maybe that's why we got it with no questions asked by Iran embassy!

Cheers, Margus

Try http://www.amoottour.com they facilitated visas for us for $50 each and sent a ref number which we forwarded to embassy in London with application form and fee. No problem in October.

Currently in southern Iran. Great country!

I used key2persia for an LOI, ($30). Once the LOI went through i turned up at the embassy in Delhi and got the visa overnight. It took two hours to extend the visa in Yazd where the officials were very friendly.
