For Sale South America - Nissan Pathfinder (2000)/Maggolina Roof Top Tent

For sale in Southern South America from August 2010

Nissan Pathfinder (Infiniti QX4 Model), 4 Mode 4WD (4×4), 2000, 3.3L engine, V6, Leather seats, Air-Con, Bose 8 speaker stereo with 8.3 inches (211 mm) of height clearance. An excellent SUV for traveling the Americas.

2000 Infiniti QX4 Summary

US$8,000 OBO

For sale also (attached) a Maggolina Extreme Roof Top Tent (8 months old, US$3000 new). A sturdy, secure model suited to windy conditions and sub zero temperatures (we have used it comfortably at -10°C/14°F). Also includes extra storage rack on top. With a roof top tent you have the freedom to stay where-ever you please, in your “own bed”. The tent takes approx. 1 min to erect (using a crank) and 2 mins to close. It includes a mattress and two pillows.

Maggiolina Extreme roof top tents for expeditions and off-road
US$2,200 OBO

Also included (optional), Coleman two burner stove, 20 litre cooler box with cooking utensils and multiple car spare parts (thankfully not needed).

US$10,000 OBO For All (4x4 SUV, Roof Top Tent & all equipment).

History:
The car was purchased in Florida, United States, and we have been traveling with it for the past nine months from the USA to Argentina.
Very Reliable and capable off-road SUV. A very popular model in South and Central America therefore no problem with spare parts or service. Nissan dealers and certified garages are in every country in South and Central America. The car has been regularly serviced and well maintained.

Guys, driving the Americas is the only way to really experience the continent. To have the ability to go anyplace you want at any time in comfort is a real bonus and adds immensely the whole experience. You will be able to reach places most backpackers can’t, in a time that will leave you refreshed enough to actually enjoy the experience.

We had absolutely NO problems driving through North, Central or South America with this car in terms of mechanical problems, driving mentality or road conditions. As you would expect in some places the roads aren’t so good, but the Infiniti QX4 is a very capable 4x4 built to handle these conditions. Even the locals trust the Pathfinder and they are quite common.
Our travel experience was fantastic and this is mostly down to our car and the freedom it gave us. We previously backpacked Africa and Asia but traveling with a car enables one to remain fresh and prevent “travel weariness” for longer. We’d be more than happy to offer tips and advice, as well as recommendations, from our travel experiences in the Americas.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
