Carretera Austral in December
I am in Pucon, Chile now and need to be in Punta Arenas on December 18th. It has been raining here daily, and I was wondering if any one knew what the current condition of the roads were? I could also catch the road east from Osorno and head for San Carlos de Bariloche and catch Ruta 40 south. Any thoughts?
I would prefer to take the C. Austral as much as I can and then return north through Argentina, but I am afraid I may be too early. Thanks! Mike

Carreterra Austral
Hi Mike,
I'm in El Bolson now & it's sunny. Just spent the last 3 days doing the Austral from Chile Chico to Coihaique to Futuala and then to here. It's fine - bit of rain, not too cold, a lot of roadworks but more bicycles than vehicles. I'm heading to Bariloche & across to Osorno for a tyre - probably pass you en route. Anton.

Thanks Anton, good to know. Its been beautiful here for the past two days, but rains are suppose to start again tomorrow(?) Maybe I am in just in a wet area.
