buying motorcycle insurance for older bikes

Got a quick question with regard to insurance for older bikes. I've read from some insurance companies that they will not insure a bike that is older than 20 years old. Not sure about this. Say i want to buy an older bike here in the states, send it down to south america and ride it back (with the compulsory insurance). Will this be a problem for me? thanks -

In the UK, Insurance for older bikes is really cheap.

They can go on "Classic" Insurance if 15 years old.
