Amazon bike transport
Hi!
Is there a boat,that ia able to take a bike and me from,let's say Puerto Francisco de Orellana(on Rio Napo river)in Equador,to Manaus,Brazil.

If not is there any similar boat line wich will take me Manaus from Equador or Peru?

Generaly,I want to go aroun Columbia,but not by air if posible.

hi,
when i was in manaos i did some checking about rio napo. from what i know, there is no big boats go from ecuador to iquitos in peru. in this rout, the only big boat you might find is from coca to noeva roca and than from the border peru-ecuador to iquitos in peru. the problem is crossing the border. there is no big boat that cross the border between ecuador and peru. there is only one man called Wilson who can transfer people from ecuador to peru and he is the only person that does that. he has only a small boat that might won´t fit to carry your bike. in addition, Wilson charge lots of money to transfer people. i know prices fom travelers without a bike paid around 300$us !!!
after getting all this information i have decided to go from iquitos to yurimaguas and than riding to ecuador. you can do that in the oposite way. get to yurimaguas, take a boat to iquitos and than another boat to Leticia and than another boat to manaos.
be prepare for a tough ride in the last 150km to yurimaguas. it´s a very bad dirt road.

eyalchuck is right.

a good friend of mine - Liam McCabe - tried to go down, but had to turn around because he could not find a boot big enough to cross the border and take his Africa Twin.

go to peru and bargain hard for all bikeprices on the boats, and don´t pay any harbour entering fees.

Well,I'v fear'd that situation is like that,cause I haven't found eny topics on Equador-Peru boat(with bikes),shame.

I plan to ride s.america from south,and going to Equador,and ride back to Peru to catch a boat for north seems a bit stupid,but if there is no other way...

Hi there,

Just found out, that a Boat is currently being built (the Jungle Discovery) which will carry passengers in comfort from Coca to Iquitos.

However it might be expensive. Check the following Website:

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
