north east of Guelb richat

Hi guys,
just search on the google earth. I found this interesting spot
N21.35'36 W10.36'06. It is located in the north east of guelb richat.
I'm wondering if it's a mil. post. Anybody has been that area?
I'm planing to take a tour around Adar region. But I will not take normal Atar->Chinguetti->Ouadane. I want to take the piste in the desert along escarpment from Atar until El beyeed. Then cross the high plateau from the above spot back to south side of guelb richat.
On Christ's book, it's mentioned there is mine in the north east of guelb. Anybody knows exact place?

I came back from Mauri 2 weeks ago. But I already start to plan the third voyage for the end of this year. I want to explore more rarely visit pistes. Just find out another piste running directly from Banc d'arguin to Akjoujt.

Yep, it's the old french fort, at the moment in use by the mauritanian forces.
You cannot visit (or photograph!) it, in fact they got quite nervous when we showed up in march 2006 (as mentioned on another thread, perform a search on this on the hubb). But you can get water at the well.
When you happen to be there don't forget to take a look at the beautifull rock engravings in the valley (20km or so to the south).

Yap, very nervous in September/Oct 2003. We thought the "nerves" were related to the coup of the beggining of 2003, but perhaps that is not the case.
They didn't let us take pictures or visit the fort. We were escorted to the well were we got (good quality) water.
I believe it is not a good ideia to aproach the fort at night or with poor visibility.

We were in El Ghalaouiya in december 06. The soldiers were very friendly but told us we shouldn't come closer to the fort than the well. We filled up water and asked about the further route and the reason for their post at the fort. They told us to make the region safe for tourists, what is not quite the truth to my opinion.
We were not allowed to take pictures.

I planed to go there, alone( with my wife and my young son), this summer:
Zouerat
Temimichat ghallaghan (Météeoritic crater)
Tenoumer (Météeoritic crater)

I wanted to rent a car, because alone, it's impossible to do this.
But, for 15 days, teh price is 2500 €!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer is too chaud! anyway, if you want to rent a 4x4, you can try in the Nouakchott. The price is around 15000 oogs per day includes chauffer(without gasoil). So it's only around 45 euro a day.

If I recall it right, car hire with driver/guide in Atar (camping Bab Sahara) about 18.000 Ougs (±52 Euro) a day for discovering the Adrar-region. Bit more expensive but skipping the ride from Nouakchott to the Adrar and back, and in Atar you'll find more locall knowledge.
I suggest contacting the owner, he has a special interest in geological fenomens in the region, almost everything can be arranged like you would want it (for instance: suply backup-vehicle for the whole trip or just meeting you somewhere halfway and only acompany you on the remote stretches, setup supplies, arrange guides, looking out for fellowtravellers to team-up, etc).

Btw. It isn't impossible to do it solo, but it would be smart to team-up, and fons is right, it can get rather hot in summer.
