Good pharmacies in Moroc/Mauri

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a reputable private/hospital phramacy in southern Morocco or Mauritania, at which Lariam could be purchased with confidence...
Cheers for any pointers, PP.
[Yes, it's possibly better purchased in advance in Europe; but that isn't the Q .]

Morocco has generally well stocked pharmacies, but I am not sure about their malarial coverage. Heading south, there are a number of well stocked pharmacies in Nouakchott selling generic drug labels. I had no problem buying arthemesin at reasonable prices, so I expect it wouldnt be too difficult to get larium.

Malaria,

Depends how long u travel? Not sure Lariam is avail. What is readily available is malaria treatment tablets. E.g. Roche's Coartem for 4800 FCFA in Mali/Senegal/Noakchott anywhere really. This is what I usually carry as a standby medication. Treats the tropicana type in 3 days, if u catch it early. Doctors and hospitals are well positioned pretty much anywhere to treat u. It is the most common decease. Watch for signes, tiredness, lackluster, aching bones, back and muscels long time before u get fever. then see a doctor, have a test done, get treated and sleep it out in 3 days. DON'T wait for fever. Rgds Manfred, just had it my 5th time in Bamako.

Depending on how far south you are Ourzazate has some good Pharmacies - one on the main road leading EAST.

They stock a lot of French medicine - in particular something called Humex - which is by far the best cold/flu medicine I have ever taken (and one I stock up on when in France.)

Thanks for the tit-bits.

I was interested in Lariam as a prophylaxis of course, but it's encouraging to hear that 'Coartem' is available in West Africa. I didn't realise that ACTs (Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy) threatments were available in combined-/pre-packaged tablet form outside of europe.
