Fuel in Tichit(Mauritania)

Hello friends,

is it possible to buy some petrol in Tichit? I'm asking about it because from Tidjikja to Nema is more than 800 km, and this distance is absolutly out of range for my bike. I can't carry 55 litres of fuel on board.

Thanks

Hi , I doubt there is any fuel there, it is extremely remote.

I rode that route but nearly died. I carried 40 litres on bike and put 30 litrs on a 4WD (a local taking supplie to tichit from tidjikja) I followed the supply truck.

Its extreme terrain. but beautiful. navigation is difficult. if you want to do this trip, research thouroughy and go as a group , better with a paid guide.

even between Oualta and nema locals have perished.

Between Tichit and Oualata is where I had problems cos I (stupidly)tried to do it alone. difficult conditions can 'suddenly' appear.

see my account on www.desertbiking.co.uk

cheers
Karim

Hi Pawel,

I'll be doing Tidjikja-Tichit-Nema around mid-November.
We are two cars and we have space for one or two extra jerrycans.
We certainly would appreciate to have an extra companion for this remote piste.

Thus, if the timing is good for you, e-mail me directly for details.

José

Helo Karim,

I've ridden your's "Disaster in the Sahara".
It's really dramatic. Luckily that you're alive.

I won't go there alone. I'll have a company of another one or two bikes.

Cheers

Hi Jose,
very thanks for your proposal, but I'm going to go there at spring 2004. I hope that I'll find some company at this time.

Thanks for response
