Algeria Travel Agent Recom.

Hi all, I'll be headed to Algiers by boat sometime in Oct. 2012. Will travel around the North solo, but am interested in headed South (travel regulations, safety, etc., permitting). Can anyone recommend guides/travel companies they've had good experiences with? I won't be on a bike, so I'll need a company that does cars, drivers, etc.

Thanks!

Hi Nick,
"around the North solo": on your bike, I suppose...
Where have you sleep? Hotels? camping? Bivouacs?
About agencies, see:
Sahara Overland ~ Algeria visa and travel information
Nowadays, the problem is to obtain a visa for travelling in Sahara zones.

Hi Nick,

Actually I think using public transport is a big plus these days esp. in Algeria. Get a visa for the north, keep low profile and just head south by bus (Algiers - El Golea) or by train (Oran - Béchar). You'll easily find travel agencies that help you exploring the regions of the northern Sahara. I can recommend Agence Mer de Sable in Timimoun, and especially a guide named Jamal Selka. PM for details.

Cheers,
Raf
