Address of Mali consulate in Paris

Hi all,

Which is the correct address for the Mali consulate in Paris?
According to Sahara Overland ~ Mali travel information it's at 89 rue du Cherche Midi; but according to google and pages jaunes, it's at 64 R. Pelleport.

They can't both be right. Any suggestions? Has anybody gone to the consulate recently?

PagesJaunes : Annuaire des professionnels says that 89 rue du Cherche Midi is the Mauritanian consulate.

According to Google StreetView, the EMBASSY is rue du Cherche Midi, and the CONSULATE is rue Pelleport.

On some web-sites, the alternative address of
64 rue Pelleport

is also given, with the same telephone numbers..

There is also a Postal address given,

Consulat General du Mali,
(PO Box 418-75011)

I have tried numerous times, without any success,
to contact the Consulat by phone..to obtain some Visa information...
I then phoned the Embassy seeking the information;
they commiserated with me but said I should keep trying that number..
and also said the only people who could provide any information about
Visas are in the Consulate..
They told me the office opening hours of the Consulate are
Mon-Fri., 09-13 hrs; 14 -17 hrs.
Good Luck!
Tifinagh

Well, I went to 64 Rue Pelleport and got a Mali visa in 30 minutes. :-)

At 89, Rue du Cherche-Midi is the Mali embassy which - confusingly - has a little Mauritanian consulate inside (if you want to apply for a Mauritania visa in person, go in the main entrance towards the courtyard, up some stairs on your left, then find a guy who'll tell you things like "Very irregular... 4 copies... Next week...").

Thanks for the update Bob. Did they require any 'referees', LOIs or stuff like that? And how much was it?

Ch

I have updated the Mali page

Hi Chris,my self and mate are heading to Mali next month on a charity motorcycle run from scotland.Origionally we had found an agency in London that would obtain our visas for Mauritania and Mali,I think they send a courier to Bruxelles with all your documentation.Apart from the cost we did not fancy sending our passports etc to complete strangers. We decided to obtain visas in Rabat. On doing that we hope to get an update on the security situation in both the countries.I read your updated Mali page and got a lot of very usefull info there, thankyou. All the best Angus

No LOIs or referees needed for Mali visas. Just forms, photos, &c. I also gave them copies of flight & hotel details but don't know if that's strictly compulsory. I get the impression that paperwork irregularities could be smoothed out with nice words and a smile (not necessarily cash, like in certain other consulates).

There's a take-a-token-and-wait-for-your-number-to-be-called system which is not visible when you walk in the door - go right a few metres into the room with the bank-teller windows, and the token dispensers are on a wall on your left hand side.

Don't expect to find any parking spaces free on Rue Pelleport. The office may get a bit crowded but people are basically helpful.

I can't remember the exact fees (should have taken a note, sorry) but it was just under €100 for for 2 UK tourists, including express-service fee. Maybe €48 or €49 each. If somebody francophone telephones them after the morning rush, it should be easy to check the current fees & requirements.

If you use an agency in London they'll charge you their fee, then courier the passport to Paris/BXL (another fee & delay) and possibly the passport might then be handled by a local visa agency (another fee & delay).

I would suggest dealing directly with the local visa agency. Airsure is fast, reliable, and cheap...

Mali visa agency in London?

Please could someone tell me where these 'agencies' are (referred to above) that can deal with getting a Mali visa from London? Last year I went to Paris & got the 'visa rapide / urgent' (took 30 minutes & cost a bit more), but I'd rather pay someone to sort it out for me from here. Thanks.
