Timing to meet travelers Africa West Coast

Hi Everyone!

I'm planning on leaving London in January 2013 to travel down the West Coast of Africa. I've been hassling friends to come with me for years to no avail, so I'm hopeful to meet some fellow travelers along the way.

Questions for y'all:
Am I less likely to encounter others by setting off in January rather than say November?
Oh, and will I freeze to death getting across France?

Any info is appreciated!

GU

We're two Saffa women in a Land Rover currently on our way north to Ghana and maybe Mali. We're going to be turning around early in 2013 in order to get back to South Africa by June 2013. Stay in touch when you're on the road (and before, of course, if you need info and think I can help) and maybe we can meet up en route.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
