£££ per day

One thing that I'm having trouble with is how much my trip will cost/how long will I be away until I run out of money.
Stupid question I know and if somebody asked me the same about any of the small tours I've done round Europe I'd say how long is a piece of string, but after a few mins of thought I would be able to answer,12 days, central Spain, 3K mls, no camping, mid range hotels, pissed most nights £60 per day (everything I spent whilst away but not what I had to spend before I left)
So, there must be somebody who can come up with a £ per day for my forthcoming trip UK to southern India and back via Greece,Turkey,Iran,Pakistan. Camping and v cheap hotels/hostels.(approx 8 month trip because of climate)
I understand that there are so many variables that this is a BIG ask but anything like "Greece 3 weeks, Turkey month, Iran 3 weeks, Pakistan month, India 3 months, 2 months to get home, camping/hotel £xyz"
This place must be a flood with people with this knowledge floating around in their head, so watta got.
p.s. " I do here by promise to get you a or 6 when we bump into each on the road for such an informative answer"

Pete

The most expensıve bıt of your trıp wıll be rıdıng throughTurkey,as ıts a bıg country and you be payng the best part of 25pounds everytıme you fıll up your tank, dependıng on the sıze of ıt.Petrol here has got to be some of the most expensıve ın the world, but the good news ıs that the next country wıll cost you next to nothıng to go through,as petrol ıs some of the cheapest ın the world.Expect to pay 10-20Turkısh lıre a nıght for campıng,30lıre for a cheap hotel.Campsıtes can be few and far between also. Its 2.50 lıre to the pound approx.

Cheers andy, just done a bit of nerding after your reply and it looks to be about 1000 mls approx across Turkey with about the same fuel prices as the UK, so at 70 mpg that should be about £70

Smile Price per day

Hi Pete
I budgeted £15 per person per day for the middle east, and that was about right. A lot depends on the cost of visas and how fast you travel, but on this basis you just camp on a beach until the budget catches up, and keep a £1000 contingency for major mechanical failure or emergency flight home.
Bruce
PS That was a couple of years ago, so with fuel increases I would say £20pppd

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
