Egypt to Sudan border crossing

Does anyone have any suggestion for the best way of crossing from Egypt to Sudan (3 motorcycles)? Cam you take motorcycles on the passenger ferry? Also I have heard that overlanders are getting through at the land borders at the Lake and on the Red Sea coast. Any info?

Hi, check out http://www.patandhelen.co.uk/index.htm
as they have just gone that way and also http://www.jupitalia.com
as Ted Simon went this way a year or so back and he went on the passenger ferry, as far as I can tell it's a bit of a pain to get the bike on the passenger ferry but possible, I hope so as I will be going this way latter this year so long as Bush and Blair don't start bombing any other Islamic countries making it difficult for Brits to get visas. Regards Chris

I went from Sudan to Egypt in March 2001. The only way was by passenger ferry from Wadi Halfa to Aswan. Ted Simon went the other way. No land crossing allowed. Bikes go on last on ferry, parked in entry way. No problem. Nice trip.
