central america - want the definitive answer
I am planning on riding from Panama to San Diego next Christmas. Excluding any touring, site seeing, etc. I would like to know how many days this ride should take. Base your estimate on a person riding the whole day. In the US this usually can mean about 500 miles a day...on the coast of Turkey it can mean 250 miles/day. I realize that my mileage may vary, but I want to get a feel for what others think
Thanks, Harvey |

Wow! Is that a hard one to answer! You're going to blitz through and not stop anywhere? The trip is a few thousand miles, so plan on a good month or 6 weeks.
On the other hand I've read of guys taking months to do that trip because they are making lots of stops and enjoying the trip. ------------------ Bruce Clarke brclarke@islandnet.com http://www.islandnet.com/~brclarke

FWIW, we did the reverse in 9 months!
And I know your proposed trip has been done in 2 weeks - but why would you want to? Stop and smell the roses... ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com

Did a round trip US to Panama in 30 days in '97. Had 3-4 two day stays in some towns but generally moved every day. Had a good time.
Going again in Feb 2001, but this time will continue on to SA. Arlen Minnesota USA |
