Need Suzuki repair in Czech Republic/Hungary

Front fork seals are leaking on my 2011 Vstrom. I am an American riding through Europe. Can anyone tell me where I can get the seals replaced in Prague or Budapest or somewhere else close by? I would try to tackle the job myself if I ad a shop, but I don't.:confused1:

The Vstrom forks are a very common size and many fork seals from other bikes will work. I believe (been a while since I owned a Vstrom) they are 42mm or 43mm? Find out for sure, go to any Japanese bike dealer and buy fork seals that are correct size ... they will work fine.

If you've never done seals, probably better to have a mechanic do the job.
You can save on labor by pulling out the fork tubes yourself (EASY) then have the mechanic swap in new seals.

Often times you can avoid changing seals by simply cleaning in and around the seals. Use a piece of 35mm film or plastic equivalent. Remove dust seal (sits on top of seal) clean oil and grit off ... get it CLEAN!
Now, insert plastic strip down between seal and fork tube. Work it around and try to pull out any grit in there. This can often StoP the oil leak.

Be sure to TOP UP fork oil, making sure fork oil level is even on both fork legs. Use 5 wt. oil.

It can also help to POLISH your fork tubes. DO NOT sand them ... Just polish them using metal polishing compound. Try to polish out any nicks, small gouges or other imperfections. Any burrs or nicks in tubes can CUT your fork seal lip ... rendering them ruined.

Hope this helps!

I cleaned my seals using a piece of A4 paper laminated and cut to A5 ( in half). Insert the paper edge facing forward in the direction of turning. Also cutting "notches" out of the leading edge help trap dirt. Amazing what comes out! Cured my slight oil misting. That was about 3 years ago, I do it once a year and still all ok.

Debrecen Yamaha Dealer

Was well looked after by the Yamaha dealer in Debrecen, Hungary. Mechanic is in same building but is independent. Found a 30 Euro wheel for my Virago. Paid about 300 Euros for front and rear rubber, new chain and cogs, new speedo cable and the 2nd hand wheel.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
