Video Cameras - not action ones

Looking to replace an aged Sony that is giving up the ghost !

So, looking for something that will take HD, tape is good, and will have external sockets for mike and headphones.

Looked at the current ones on the market that all seem to look like large toilet roll tubes, and none seem to have the ability to take a mike etc - so it looks like a big step into the SOny / Canon Pro range

Anyone know of anything else around ? Option "b" is to upgrade the Canon 50D to a new 70D when they're out and use that for video too !

Canon XF 100

Have a look at the Canon XF 100, small enough to fit in your tank bag, has mic capabilities & is approved by the BBC as well. Great travel doco setup.
Cheers
Paul

just stick with a major brand name and find what suits you, all the majors make a very nice camera these days. honestly, goto a specialty camera store, if they can't help you they will point you to someone who can, some of the big box stores like futureshop are good, but it is all over the place, some hire people that are passionate about what they do and others that couldn't tell you a mirroless from a point and shoot.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
