I think you will need something with an OS.
Unless you have a camera that I have not seen before. If what you want to do is offload images to free up space on your camera I would recomend a high capacity memory card like a 1g microdrive or they now have solid state versions. I might be wrong, but I believe such a piece of equipment doesn't exist just yet. If you want direct-to disk image writing, you'll have to go with one of the Sony models discussed elsewhere in this forum.

Alternativly you could use something like
a archos gmini. Its a 20G MP3 player, plus it has a CompactFlash™ memory card slot which you can use to offload your pics.

Its all that you need really, its also does FM, perhaps an amp in your boxes with some high power speakers tops it off!

Sony makes a camera, the Sony Mavica CD-350, that records to CD. But someone posted that they don't handle vibrations very well.

I'm looking into a media reader that can read the cards straight to the computer without downloading drivers.

Here's a review of the Kanguru CD Burner.

Well after 7 months on the road and tousands of KM in the dirts (Peru,Bolivia, Ruta 40), the Burner died. It does not work anymore.

It was stored in a seal plastic box. No dust touched the device. There was some cloths surrounding the box in my Alu panier. I never neglected it.

So I don't recommand it for motorcycle travelling. Also there are so many internet cafe in Central and South America. You really don't need to carry a Burner in theses countries. You just need a few memory cards. It small, compact and weight nothing.

I have the hama Mobile DataSafe CD-RW with me. Its a portable CD Burner that doesn't require a computer. It works with 12V so you can connect it directly to the bike (don't run the engine while burning!).
I've had it for over a year now, 35.000 km (partly bad roads and gravel), over 4000 pictures, no problems so far. I carry it in the box it came in (cardboard) with a plastic bag around it for protection against the dust.

I bought it in Germany for 200 EUR. It comes with two years warranty.

It supports the following cards:
Smart Media Card (upto 128MB)
Type I/II CompactFlash Card
IBM Micro Drive (upto 1GB)
MultiMedia Card (upto 128 MB/Card)
Secure Digital Card (upto 128MB/Card)
MStick and MStick Pro (upto 1GB/Card)

You can also use it as a CD player.
I am not sure if its still available, I think they replaced it with a newer model.
