We've been in Russia for a couple of weeks and have been trying to find 15W-40 semi synthetic oil. It appears to not be available at all, so your 15-50 is likely to be equally unobtainable.

We have been able to find 15W-40 mineral oil, but not semi synthetic. We have had to settle for 10W-40 semi synthetic for the Land Rover (just changed the oil today).

Is the oil for a bike or a car? I had no problems finding 10w60 synthetic Motul and Liquimoli in Russia and Kazakhstan. I know this probably isn't very helpful info... but if you can locate a dealer or shop that is the "official" dealer of the oil brand you want, they can probably get it within a few days.

I usually google "motul + country/city" when i am trying to find plan my oil changes.

For further comfort for motorcyclists not to be put off by this: I never had any problem in any city in russia the size of Omsk to get fully synthetic top drawer motorcycle oils of 10w40 15w50 and even 10w60.

If you cant find anything yourself, just flag down a local motorcyclist and ask them where to get it in town.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
