Maps??
Hi,
I'm starting to plan a trip to Russia Mongolia and the 'stans', was hoping someone could recommend the best maps to cover the route. Will be in an old Land Cruiser and hoping to get off the beaten track as much as pos. Any help would be greatfully received Sam

Maps??
Thanks a lot, I hadn't seen the Stanfords web site, very usefull.
I've found somewhere doing the 1/1M ONC Military maps, On the face of it they seem spot on (and cheap too) but, does anyone have any experience of them? I know their north africa maps don't have the best reputation

I used to use the ONCs (1:1,000,000) and TPCs (1:500,000) when there was no alternative ... but today there are plenty or road maps of Russia and the CIS ... any good bookshop in central Moscow (or any other city) will have an extensive choice.
You are best to buy them there in my opinion.
