The Border is only open for People from the old sovjet union, not for Foreigners. Also the shipping from Russia to Turkmenistan is not possible! Thanks for the confirming the situation has not changed.
Just to correct a small point, the Russia road borders to Azberbadan and Georgia are only open to Passports issued by CIS states. These are not all Soviet Union countries, just some of them. The Baltic States preferred the EU -- and it immediately shows with the EU funded roads and general prosperity! The CIS states are currently Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldovia, Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The road border difficulties are only between Russia and Azerbaijan and Georgia. Subject to visas etc, air and sea borders are still open to all Passports holders between Russia and Georgia - possibly Azerbajan too
