We've had a code update on the HUBB that should fix any issues with the new right hand column. If the HUBB still "looks funny" please force a refresh to get the latest code update. Could anyone offer a little help in Vancouver?
Hello everyone
I'm Irish and am currently in Vancouver, having come over from Halifax, enroute to Alaska and TdF. Something appears to have happened to my left foot, meaning that I can no longer shift gear. The couple who have kindly put me up for a few days are helping me to make a handshift system so that I can continue, but I really need an old clutch lever and clamp. Anything simple, without mirror holder would be perfect, maybe an old KLR one? Does anyone have one lying around they would be willing to sell for a small fee? Thanks in advance to anyone who can perhaps help Paddy. 902 403 4685 |

Paddy
All the best to you. Since you had just a few posts here I contacted the Vancouver Community on your behalf. I hope someone gets in touch with you so you can be on your way.

FYI, just called him and suggested that drop by one of the dealers, who in most cases will help due to his diplomatic immunity card (funny foreign accent, beat up bike, stories of misadventure)
![]() Usually they will toss him a part from the bin, or suggest someone that runs a small bike shop and has odds and sodds lying around. Last suggestion is to visit the bike wrecker who has yard full of bikes in various states of diassembly and usually just tells you to have at 'er if you show up and say that you are looking to makeshift some parts together. If you're lucky, they will sometimes even have your make and you go crazy grabbing all the bolts and nuts and little pieces that have rattled off onto no mans land so far. |

Thanks all!
Thank you all very much for the response and calls.
John , my generous host has helped manufacture a shaft from an old patio chair, with a grip and a clutch lever. This is attached to the shifter and with the clutch cable rerouted, works, sort of! There may need to be a mark 2 version but for now I'm moving again! Canadian medical isn't free for foreigners, but they were very lenient with me and ran a load of tests. May need to head back to Europe, but the journey will continue.... |
