tomtom vs Zumo

Hey Guys,

I have a Garmin 500 GPS which I have been having trouble with (Broken track on the board) They won't even look at it in Australia (GME that is). Anyway I have to purchase another unit but was yesterday looking at a tomtom which is a lot cheaper than the Zumo.

What I need to know is will the software and maps that I have for the Garmin work on the tomtom? I am running Tracks 4 Africa, and Wanderlust maps which run on Mapsource. I believe that the tomtom uses "Where is"? Does anyone know if these maps are compatible with this?

Thx for your assistance guys?

Cheers
Ivan

Hey Ivan,

I'm afraid it's not good news - none of the maps from the Garmin will work on the Tom Tom - it's a completely closed system that requires the purchase of genuine Tom Tom maps.

This is fine in America and Europe - but not so great everywhere else :-(
