The Middle East!!!!

Hello folks...

Does anyone know of a company that make mapping software to run on my PC/laptop along side my GPS unit to give coverage out in the Middle East - esp Oman ???

I'm after some kind of softwre similar to the UK Eurpoe packages that I have on it at the moment. Directions Info Navigator 4....

OR - is it worth getting some more World Map Source stuff from Garmin and having a better base map and leaving it at that?

Is one available?

Cheers folks, Tony.

I use a Garmin and the only maps available for the Middle East is their world map. It is not very useful as it does not do routing it only points towards locations. I am currently in Israel and had no problems following a map or just road signs thru Turkey, Syria,Jordan and Israel. Most signs are in english as well as arabic with distances. If your off road the garmin world map is fine, if using roads it's a breeze. Have fun and spend as much time in Syria as you can. The sites are great and the people are the nicest you are going to meet anywhere.

Garmin does have a City Navigator Middle East product:

Oman is covered but cannot say wheter this will suite your needs, eg if you want to go off the beaten track. They do have a map browser on the site so you can preview all map details.

Maybe you'll find (free) GPS maps for your trip on this site:

Cheers, Kudi
