GPS, radio kit and border crossings?

I've read on this forum and elsewhere that some countries may have issues with GPS users, as they see it as military/spying technology.
My trip starts in Beijing before heading into SE Asia to pick up bikes.
Does anybody have any experience of entering a country by air with GPS in their luggage?
Should I freight it on with my other biking kit?
Its a Garmin GPS2+ so its pretty basic without maps, will this make any difference?
Same questions as above with regard to a sat-phone and bike-to-bike intercom/2way radios.........
Cheers

2-way radios are only legal in the country where they are licenced. The only exceptions I know of is the EU, where PMR and some CBs are homologated within most of the EU.

Having said that, we intend to chance it with a couple of CBs mounted on the front of the bikes, but we'll cover them up and remove the aerials for borders.

Others have put walkie talkies in their jackets and avoided the issue that way.

Still have to get the CBs to work satisfactorily, though...
