Duff CIN for D16

Just looking to fill in a D16 but can't really decipher my CIN in my passport.
Does this matter ? Can I just be a "first time visitor" again ? or will this cause major hold ups at Tang Med. Will be on 4wheels this time.

I presume if you fill in 'first time visitor' they will allocate you with a new CIN which may cause conflict with your passport which already has a CIN assigned to it.
Don't know if the website does this automatically for first timers or if it's done at the port (you could test the www to see if it prints off with a CIN for a first timer).

It helps that you're not in the same vehicle and that passport info is not included on the form, but I would just do the TVIP triplicate form (same thing) when you get to the port. They will enter your passport #, spot the illegible CIN and then work it out from the computer. I can't see that adding more than 10 mins on a quite day.

Thanks Chris, yes I think that's a good idea, just do the paper work instead.
It's always nice to have "all your ducks in a row" but frequently this is not the case due to circumstances beyond your control.

Hi Tim,

If it were me, I'd:-

Print off a first timers D16 before you go.

Present your passport and white immigration form to the customs guy on the ferry, pointing out the illegible CIN.
He'll either check your name and passport number against the records on his laptop and correct the CIN, or just issue a new CIN.

Either way, you can now add the CIN to the D16 by hand and present it with your passport when you arrive.

Bear in mind if he issues a new CIN you'll be directed to one of the police booths at the port to get your passport composted.

Thanks Peter, I had been thinking maybe the chap on the ferry could help find my CIN. Fingers crossed he can.

I find many of the country entry stamps etc.. are faded or eligible, even straight after they are done! I went through it the other day and had quite a job working them out. The red ink ones are worst. Albania get first prize - good bold solid black stamp

If latter then it looks something like bellow - 24 ….. HI - and should be next to Moroccan entry stamp. Took me a while to find it first time.

I can't read the first two numbers Chris, I've narrowed them both down to any number between 0 & 9

Hi Tim,
It's not a huge problem. We've had several clients with illegible CINs. The custom officials usually just check them on the system and write the number in biro below the illegible stamp.
