Condition of roads in W/NW Iran in Feb?
Hi I'm hoping to do a trip from the UAE back to the UK starting in Feb. Has anyone any experience of road conditions in the west and northwest of Iran in mid late Feb? I want to use non major roads as much as possible and some mountain roads. Anyone know how much effort is put into road clearance/gritting/salting of roads or should I expect lots of snow on the roads and closed or impassable roads?
I'm planning to exit into Turkey so any coments on road conditions at the end of Feb there would also be welcome. Thanks. John |

Hi ;
Between Tikap and Hamadan.... you should expect snow and cold, until April. Cheers, |

Hey Beddhist you just passed through western Iran didn't you? Was there much snow yet? I'll be passing through in a few weeks.
Usl, I presume the main highway and border crossings are always passable? cheers Brett |

Nope, I'm in Adana, so will be another week or so. I have seen snow on the top of a mountain while cruising down the coast...

Hi Brett .... yes, main highway and border crossings will be quite fine. Just cold and frozen snow piles (from road clearing ) on the side of the roads.
