D Day To Berlin

we are looking for bikers to join in a charity bike ride from d day landing beaches to berlin in 1 day for help for heroes it will take place on 6th june 2010 early stages at the moment it will be a pay your own exspenses as we want all the money you get sponsered to go to help for heroes more the merrier let me know if your intrested

I cant help but wonder if this might be seen as a little insensitive.
Beaches to Paris yes, but Berlin ? Why ?

I would be inclined to agree that this may be a bit insensitive.
I presume that this is related to the current conflict which sees servicemen returning home injured or killed from the Middle East.
If this is so, I find it distasteful to attempt to draw a comparison between WW II and the current conflict.

No comparisons meant or intended.
Just seems an inappropriate route... leastwise the destination.

Caen to Berlin is about 755 miles, half of which will be through France & Belgium, both of which are strict on speeding, especially the Belgians.

I also have an issue groups of bikes spending a fortune on fuel etc to raise money. Calculate how much the entire group will spend to complete the journey (including the return leg) and then compare that against what you expect to raise. You may find that you're better off just donating your planned expenses.

I've had some involvement in a similar venture.
