charity work

Hi all,

I will shortly have some time on my hands and would like to do something worthwhile with it. I'm a qualified motorcycle instructor and would love to get involved with some sort of motorcycle training for medical workers in Africa or elsewhere. Anyone got any contacts (Riders for Health policy is to use local staff only but I'm sure there must be other charities out there)?

Any info gratefully received.

Hi Straggler,

There is a group called the Muskoka Foundation and they have recently launched a program that enlists people to do just what you are talking about. Jay and Alice are good people to work with also. I am not sure if they have something specifically that speaks to what you would like to do, but if it is out there, they would be a good place to start looking.

Check out: The Muskoka Foundation | Making Change Makers - send over a message and tell them that Phil from Expedition Awareness sent you over if you like.

Hopefully they can offer some direction.

On behalf of all the charitable causes out there, I want to thank you for wanting to make a difference.

Phil

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, the HUBB or to receive the e-zine. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
