LC4 Adventure fuel tank

Hi everybody, help will be greatly appreciated.

I recently had the tap ripped out of my fuel tank (Hans took a shortcut designing this bit I recon) and a quote for a replacement came in at £350.

The insurance companies are still fighting so I phoned the bike shop today to order it anyway. So, the owner tells me that now the only KTM Adventure tank available is the latest Paris Dakar version (that doesn't split open when dropped??) but costs £680. Yes, you read right £680!

Does this sound reasonable... and if yes how long will KTM survive pricing themselves out of the spares market like this (I need a LOT of spares)

If this isn´t wanted by the poster of the original thread I´ll have it for my Duke in La Paz if you´re prepared to post it to Bolivia. If not I´ll find someone who will send it to me from UK. It is 18litres?

Gas tank

Have you looked at any after market tanks, like the acerbis or IMS? There still pricey but not as much as the one your were quoted on.
