Duke II Side Stand

I magically lost my Duke's side stand on a recent trip. Seriously, it was magic, because I stopped at the services, and when I tried to kick it out - it was gone!

I have no idea what sort of evil magic is responsible... it was VERY, VERY embarassing... and for the rest of my trip, I had to find things I could balance my bike on. Like DUST BINS!!! NOT COOL.

And now I need a new one!

ANYONE who can tell me of ANY alternative, rather than buying a new sidestand from my local dealer.. which costs a CRAZY £120!!!??

I don't need the sidestand mechanism.. (the magic fairy kindly left that part for me). JUST the actual STICK thing.

Seek ye a welder chappie , flutter your eyebrows and a piece of pipe will appear as if by magic and form itself into a sidestand .
[ STICK THING - indeed ! ]

an other alternative is an lc4 stand of fleebay as if ur d2 stand is any thing like my d1 stand was (to close to the bike leaving the bike on an ify balancing act) the lc4 stand is way more stable from reaching forther out from the bike

Thanks...

I bought the very expensive original in the end...

Actually - the original stand is quite the opposite, the pitch it leans the bike at is perfect. (apart from being stable, looks very sexy too!)

Do you have any lock-wire pliers?

If you don't then GET SOME!!!!! I lock-wire all components to the bike frame, for a variety of reasons:-
-The main one is that when a bolts rattles free (as probably happened to your sidestand bolt) or snaps (happens quite a lot, especially on footpegs) you dont lose the part.
-Another small advantage is that if you decide you want to race you can go straight through scrutineering. All race bikes whether it is for a rally or road/track racing need to have all components lock-wired on.
-Lock-wire is cheap, sidestands etc are not as you have just found out

Cool

That sound like a GREAT idea.. and also answers our OTHER problem, and that is that we can't tighten stuff TOO tight, cos we just can't get them loose again...
