desperately looking for parts

I am on my way across Southamerica on a KLR 250. Now I find myself stuck in Venezuela and looking for some parts which can't be found here. I need urgently:
- water pump
- Temperature valve
- balancer chain

for the following motorcycle:
KLR 250 D8
year 1997
motor nr: KL250DE-041950
chassis nr: JKAKLMD16SA-080311

Anybody can help?

Sorry to hear your have problems with your motor. I asked around a bit and tried a quick search of the web for Kawasaki dealers in Venezuela, but found nothing. This doesn't mean they don't exist though. I am told that a parts distribution operation is in Santiago, Chile and a distributor does exist somewhere in South America. It might be easier to get the parts shipped from you home country, if you know of a dealer.

At Kawasaki.com it is possible to view parts diagrams for U.S. spec bikes. You may be able to buy them there as well. Not sure about how import rules would work in Venezuela. Might be easier to deal with a live human. Good Luck.

Hi Jeannette.

I'm travelling around the US on a KLR 650. I'm in southern Arizona at the moment and it looks like there is a Kawasaki dealer 50 miles away and another 100 miles. I'll phone them tomorrow and see if they have or can get your parts. I'll post what I find out here on the bulletin board. I would be quite happy to arrange to get them posted to you. We'll see what news we get tomorrow. Good luck

I spoke with a Kawasaki dealer today and he said that he would be able to get the parts within 3-5 working days. It sounded as though he would be able to ship them to you aswell charging you the appropriate postage. I guess you have a credit card you can pay with?

However, he wanted to know more specifically what you mean by
- temperature valve - by thisare you referring to the little relay on the radiator that turns the fan on when it gets too hot or what?
- water pump - do you need the whole water pump or just bits and pieces for it - if so what bits and pieces.

I have good internet access til next Monday morning - otherwise I'm not sure when I'll be able to get online again - might be a few days to a week.

Regards
Grant

To clarify exactly what you want you could look at http://www.buykawasaki.com/site/home/
as Kurt suggested and look for Parts Diagrams where you'll get a complete list of parts and part numbers for KLR motorcycles. I think you can even put in your VIN to find the exact parts list for your vehicle.
